1. Compact composer and participants

  1. Check Participants on the channel page. Grant/project channels use scope membership; groups use their selected members.
  2. Write in the compact composer. Expand Attachments, links and tags for extra options. Preview supports headings (#), bold (**), lists (-), inline/fenced code and links. Select Edit to return.
  3. Use × to delete your own message or one you are allowed to manage. Channel settings → Conversation history offers clear and delete. Deleted content is excluded from the current view and AI search; historical archive versions remain.

2. Citations, mentions and AI context

  1. Type [[ and part of a title, then select a result. Research chat searches sources readable by every participant; private consultation uses your access.
  2. Type @ and a name or username. A private AI mention is a reference, not a message or notification to that person.
  3. Grants, projects, researchers and tags are optional context for new private consultations. Narrow them when useful and state dates and document titles in your question.
  4. Existing scoped consultations retain their saved scope. Switching research channels does not automatically change an existing AI consultation's context.

Insert files and images inside the body

  1. Open a new wiki page, Edit page, a new/edit proposal, Write report, or a manual magazine article.
  2. Select the Notion connection for a report or the lab for an article first. That lab needs a configured private Google Drive archive.
  3. Click the insertion point inside the body. Choose Attach file for PDF, DOCX, HWP, TXT, Markdown, ZIP and other supported files, or Add image for PNG, JPEG or WebP.
  4. Limits are 20MB per file, 1.5MB per image and 20 attachments per document. Once Drive storage is confirmed, a download link or image Markdown appears at the chosen position. Images are normalized to safe JPEGs.
  5. Check Preview, then save/publish or submit the proposal. Use Retry attachment or Cancel attachment if transfer fails. If Google archive authorization has expired, keep the editor open, use Open archive account settings in a new tab, reconnect the existing account and retry. No new folder is needed. Ask your lab administrator to reconnect if you cannot manage settings. Finish uploads before saving.
  6. Before saving, only the uploader can access new files. Pending proposal files are available only to the author and reviewers. Saved files follow the document audience, including Only me and revoked memberships.
  7. Notion exports and wiki ZIPs retain authenticated platform links for new attachments. They do not make files public or copy large originals into the ZIP. Download originals using their links. Read-only collected documents are still edited in their original service.

Paste images and drop files

  1. Choose files or drop them into Research chat or AI consultation. Paste a copied image with Ctrl+V. Ordinary text paste still works.
  2. Review filenames, sizes and image previews; remove unwanted files. The limit is three files and 1.5 MB total. Register larger files in Materials and cite them.
  3. Attachments upload when you send the message or question. After failure, review the retained queue before retrying. Navigation or switching conversations may require selecting files again.
  4. Resizing and text extraction have limits. Identify the important table, figure or page and compare the answer with the original. Attachment content does not authorize code execution or browsing its links.
