1. Choose AI generation or direct writing

  1. Open Reports. Generate AI research report requests an evidence-based AI draft; Write report lets you enter the body yourself.
  2. For AI generation, follow Generate, schedule and review reports. For direct writing, follow the steps below. Missing generation controls can indicate missing scope-management or AI permission.
  3. Direct writing requires an eligible Notion connection you can manage and publish through. If the list is empty, ask the connection manager for access to a parent page in the same lab and content insertion permission.

2. Write and review a Markdown report

  1. Open Reports → Write report. Enter a title and select the Notion connection, checking its name and scope.
  2. Select related grants, projects and researchers; enter dates and tags. Leaving grant/project selections blank uses the connection's scope. Select the actual reporting audience because scope affects access.
  3. Enter Markdown: ## Weekly summary creates a heading, - Experiment setup creates a list item, and **Important** emphasizes text. Use @username or type [[ and select a suggested document to insert mentions and citations.
  4. Preview headings, tables, links and paragraphs, then save the draft. Draft storage and completed Notion publication are separate steps. Review the destination and content before publication.
  5. Follow the Notion publishing chapter for the final action. After publication, continue editing the original in Notion.

3. Set or change Only me

  1. Select Only me before generating an AI report or saving a direct report to restrict platform access to its author.
  2. After creation, the author can turn Only me on or off in the report's visibility controls and save. Another administrator cannot change it on the author's behalf.
  3. Turning it off restores ordinary scope-based access; it does not publish the report to the open internet.
  4. In Reports or Materials advanced search, choose Only my private reports. Exclude private reports removes these from results.
  5. This controls platform access. Previously sent email, downloads and Notion copies have separate access rules and cannot be recalled by this switch.

4. Receive the complete AI report by email

  1. Check that your profile email is an address you can access.
  2. In AI report generation, select the option to email the full body after completion. This is a per-report choice, separate from ordinary notification email.
  3. On completion, delivery is attempted to the author's profile address. Sender configuration, policy, sending limits and current access must permit it.
  4. If missing, check report completion, your address, spam and sender configuration. Uncertain attempts are not automatically repeated. The completed report remains available on the platform regardless of email delivery.

Insert files and images inside the body

  1. Open a new wiki page, Edit page, a new/edit proposal, Write report, or a manual magazine article.
  2. Select the Notion connection for a report or the lab for an article first. That lab needs a configured private Google Drive archive.
  3. Click the insertion point inside the body. Choose Attach file for PDF, DOCX, HWP, TXT, Markdown, ZIP and other supported files, or Add image for PNG, JPEG or WebP.
  4. Limits are 20MB per file, 1.5MB per image and 20 attachments per document. Once Drive storage is confirmed, a download link or image Markdown appears at the chosen position. Images are normalized to safe JPEGs.
  5. Check Preview, then save/publish or submit the proposal. Use Retry attachment or Cancel attachment if transfer fails. If Google archive authorization has expired, keep the editor open, use Open archive account settings in a new tab, reconnect the existing account and retry. No new folder is needed. Ask your lab administrator to reconnect if you cannot manage settings. Finish uploads before saving.
  6. Before saving, only the uploader can access new files. Pending proposal files are available only to the author and reviewers. Saved files follow the document audience, including Only me and revoked memberships.
  7. Notion exports and wiki ZIPs retain authenticated platform links for new attachments. They do not make files public or copy large originals into the ZIP. Download originals using their links. Read-only collected documents are still edited in their original service.
