1. Configure the Microsoft app
The platform administrator configures the registered Microsoft Entra application. Register the exact OneNote callback URL shown in LUNA as a Web redirect URI; it is separate from the OneDrive callback. LUNA requests delegated Microsoft Graph Notes.Read, offline_access and openid, not app-only authentication or Notes.ReadWrite. Organization policy may require administrator approval. App registration alone does not connect an account. Enter secrets only in platform settings, never in chat or documents.
2. Consent and choose a research section
Project or grant → External sources → OneNote → Save → Connect Microsoft account. Sign in with your own Microsoft account, inspect notebook and section names, and select one research section intended for this space's existing audience and archive policy. Microsoft consent is broader than one section; LUNA limits collection to your selection. Do not import an entire private notebook into a project or shared lab archive. A new sign-in requires selecting the section again.
3. Collect and verify
Choose Collect now, then compare the title, source update time and body against the original. Text and tables are read; images and attachments have separate reference entries. Supported asset bytes are privately preserved only when original-attachment preservation is enabled for this connection, within bounded size and current permissions. Handwriting, equations, free-form layout and OCR are not guaranteed; generative AI is not called automatically. Partial collection or an unpreserved asset is not full completion.
4. Scheduling, retries and disconnect
The server worker performs scheduled reads; your PC need not remain on. Microsoft's per-app/per-account hourly limits may require several batches for the first import. Check continuation, next retry time and the last complete inventory. Repeated errors stop automatic retries; resolve the cause and choose Collect now. Revoked consent or changed app/account authority requires reconnection. Disconnecting in LUNA stops collection and access using that credential without deleting OneNote originals or changing Microsoft account permissions.
